He is Mrs. Potts' son who, as a result of the curse placed on the castle, was transformed into a teacup. Chip is shown to be adventurous and constantly curious about the world around him. Chip is a cheerful and active young boy and (like his mother and friends) is shown to have a great fear of the Beast's temper. Originally intended to have only one line in the original film, the filmmakers were impressed with the performance of his voice actor, Bradley Pierce, and expanded the character's role significantly.
