The Arabs would be very happy if Israel would just disappear, but then Jews because of the Holocaust feel that without Israel they cannot be safe. Also the land of Israel belonged to the Jews centuries before the Palestinians and was given to them by God. In addition there never was a separate country called Palestine but the name was given to the territory by the Romans. Only right-wing Jews and Arabs hate each other.
