There is a song called "Gelt Melts" by the LeeVees on their CD, Hanukkah Rocks. The title refers to the fact that the chocolate used in chocolate gelt will melt, especially when held for awhile by small children before they peel it open. Then the chocolate gets all over the place. It is one of those shared experiences.
