The Republic Astrogation Survey Team was in 4000 BBY a division of the Science and Culture Administration, part of the Old Republic's bureaucracy. It was the name of the Republic's Scout service, which was then exploring the Mid Rim and the fringes of the future Outer Rim. The primary craft of the Team included the Vaya-class scout and bulkier, deep space explorers. Scouting missions of the Team typically lasted 3 to 6 months, and returning ships downloaded their data into the Administration's publicly searchable databases on Coruscant.
