The Second Company was one of the four primary units of the Crimson Guard, and led by Shimmer. During the diaspora, the Company took a contract by the Genebackan Free Cities Alliance to oppose the Malazan Empire's Genabackan Campaign. They fought along side Caladan Brood. At the onset of the Pannion War, the Company traveled to Bael, where they took a contract to eliminate the warlock Shen. About twenty members of the company were of the Avowed, those who had made the pledge to K'azz D'Avore.
