The Department of Sociology and Human Geography is a department of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Oslo. It is located at the Blindern campus of the university, in a building known as Harriet Holter's House. The department was established on January 7, 1950 as the Department of Sociology, and was originally a part of the Faculty of Arts. It was incorporated into the newly established Faculty of Social Sciences in 1963. In 1996 the Department of Sociology merged with the Department of Human Geography.
