Turnbull was elected to the Senate in February 2663. He served as Shadow Minister for the Environment and Water Resources. On November 29, 2666, Turnbull was defeated by a slim margin for the leadership of the Baltusian Labour Party. However, just ten months later, he was elected. On April 20, 2669, Turnbull announced his intention to resign as leader following a leadership election. However, he did not officially leave the leadership until a new leader was elected on January 1, 2670.
