Unaware of the smoke starting, Laurel tells Ashley on the phone that she’ll be home soon. However, just as she’s about to leave the vestry curtain goes up in flames. Laurel races towards the back door and is horrified to find it locked. Panicking she runs through the flames towards the front door and realises she’s trapped and her phone is on the desk on the other side of the growing flames. As the heater explodes, Laurel is left bashing on the front door desperately hoping someone will hear her cries. Zak alerts Ashley to the burning church and as Sally sees him she exaggerates her panic. Ashley charges through the doors and Laurel hears his cries but is too weak to call back and slowly slips into unconsciousness.
