Ankalagon is a genus of Mesonychid ungulate from the Early to Middle Paleocene, it is a monotypic genus, because only one species belongs to it, Ankalagon saurognathus (Wortman 1897). Ankalagon was the size of a bear, the main difference between it and its ancestor, Dissacus, which was the size of a coyote. Males had larger jawbones, apparently to crush bones, a la a scavenger, while the females had smaller, slender jawbones.
