ANC Communist is an unofficial term used to refer to those candidates in South African elections who stand as registered members of both the African National Congress and the South African Communist Party, due to an agreement between the two parties as part of the Tripartite Alliance shared between both parties and COSATU. This means that members of the SACP can sit in the ANC's executive and working committees and contest both general and municipal elections under the ANC banner. As a result, the SACP has never contested a democratic election in South Africa's history.
