Riley McEvoy is the widow of Sean McEvoy, the sister-in-law of Jack McEvoy, and the daughter-in-law of Millie and Tom McEvoy. In the middle of February in 1996, she was notified of her husband's death by her brother-in-law and detectives Harold Wexler and Ray St. Louis. She was initially told that her husband's death was a suicide. However, subsequent investigations Jack revealed that Sean was murdered by a serial killer who was targeting homicide detectives. Riley gave her permission to exhume Sean's body which yielded more evidence for the murder theory. It turned out that Riley was pregnant at the time Sean was killed.
