Dark Horizons was Belfast's first comic shop, founded in about 1985 by John McCrea and Fred Collier. Fred managed it on his own after John became a full-time artist. It was originally based in a back room of Good Vibes, Terri Hooley's record shop on Great Victoria Street. Around 1988 moved to a unit on Chichester Street, and in the late 90s to 40 Victoria Square (before it was redeveloped and the shopping mall built there). It closed after a fire in 2003.
