François-Charles-Louis Comte (25 August 1782 - 13 April 1837) was a french lawyer and economist, member of the Chamber of Deputies and the Institute. He founded the Le Censeur in 1814 with Charles Dunoyer where they defended liberal views. In 1820 he was sentenced to two years in prison on false charges against the king, took refuge in Switzerland, where he successfully completed a course of public law, then in England, where he became friends with Jeremy Bentham.
