Ungulates are large, often megafaunal, herbivorous mammals with hooves. They are the primary consumers in grasslands and have adapted to a variety of environments beyond. Ungulates also provide the largest amount of energy to an environment in terms of stored food energy. They are the chief prey of large beasts, such as dragons, and people, esp. giants.
