In 2377, the Leyte Gulf rendezvoused with a pair of Klingon scientists who had been studying a newly discovered alien contagion. The contagion was in fact the Warden's nanite virus and soon spread to infect the entire crew who subsequently claimed the Leyte Gulf in the name of the Wardens and planned to take it to the Warden/Romulan outpost on Chetzia III. The ultimate fate of the Leyte Gulf or its crew is unknown, however the crew were presumably cured of the Warden nanites along with the rest of the galaxy and the Leyte Gulf herself was perfectly salvageable.
