Anselm Casimir Wambolt of Umstadt (30 November 1579 - 9 October 1647) was the Archbishop of Mainz from 1629 until 1647. Amselm was a son of Eberhard Wambolt of Umstadt, who was a judge in the Imperial Chamber Court of appeal in Speyer and an advisor of the Holy Roman Emperor. Anselm was educated by the Jesuits in either Speyer or Prague. In 1596 he moved to Mainz before studying at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome from 1596 - 1597, at Würzburg Cathedral from 1597 - 1599, and at Rome to study theology from 1599 until 1604. In 1604 he returned to Mainz, and the following year was made a member of the cathedral chapter. Aselm then studied law for two years in Padua.
