Major is the main villain and final boss of R-Type LEO. Some time after humanity's first victory against the Bydo, a new peaceful time started, and so an old project called "Paradise Plan" could be finally put into practice. The project involved the creation of an artificial planet Earth, with the help of a bio-computer called "Major", which would control all systems on this new planet, intended to be the ideal world. However, for reasons unknown, Major malfunctions, taking control over the planet's defense systems and attacking the humans. In order to destroy Major, the R-9 LEO is sent to the planet, where it battles the defense systems and finally takes down Major. With Major's destruction, the planet explodes as well. "Paradise Plan" is deemed a failure, becoming just part of history.
