The 1977-17 was a Modified Tour 200 lap national championship event held at Stafford Motor Speedway on September 5, 1977, the day prior to Labor Day. Ed Flemke won his only race of the year, as he put the Manchester Sand and Gravel No.10 in the winner’s circle ahead of Geoffrey Bodine, Maynard Troyer, Richie Evans, Bugsy Stevens and Fred DeSarro. The cagey veteran had beat the best there was at that time.
