A Kewpie doll was a popular early 20th century toy, in the form of a small, cute baby doll. The term later evolved to describe a young, cute individual, usually meant to imply they had no other admirable qualities. Dr. Elizabeth Lense, shortly after leaving the USS da Vinci at the start of her maternity leave, bitterly referred to her replacement, Dr. Sarjenka, as a Kewpie doll. (CoE eBook: Ghost)
