The cave was located by John Locke in the episode "Further Instructions" as the site where Mr. Eko was dragged by the polar bear. Once inside Locke discovered the body of an individual who was wearing a shirt bearing the logo from Station 5: The Pearl. Locke eventually found Eko, and fought off the bear by taking his torch and using a can of hairspray to create a large flame to burn the bear.
