8884 Power Functions IR Receiver is a TECHNIC set released in 2008. It contains a Power Function IR Receiver that works in tandem with the 8885 Power Functions IR Remote Control or 8879 Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control. It requires the 8881 Power Functions Battery Box or 8878 Power Functions Rechargeable Battery Box to work. A new version, called V2, is included in 9398 4x4 Crawler. This new version uses better power-saving electronics.
