Seed stitch (or moss stitch to British knitters) is a very common decorative material that is reversible, flat and somewhat bulky, and is often used at the borders and edges of a piece. It can be worked in any number of stitches, though the pattern varies depending on whether an even or odd number of stitches is worked.
