The 2005–06 Los Angeles Kings season was the Kings' 36th season. The Kings showed great promise in the season. During the off-season, they acquired centers Pavol Demitra and Jeremy Roenick to help solidify their offense, as well as goaltender Jason LaBarbera. The changes appeared to pay off, finishing their first 42 games with a 26-14-2 record. The team, however, collapsed, winning 14 of its last 20 games as head coach Andy Murray was fired for their final 12 games and John Torchetti taking over and missed the playoffs despite finishing with an impressive 42 wins. __TOC__
