For his first 18 Cycles Seritin was trained to be just another Unggoy soldier. He was not sent to Alpha Halo because he was currently WIA from a short skirmish on Reach. At Delta Halo he merely fought humans trying to stay alive. Then, when he reached 22 Cycles he was contacted by Zeka Paumee, the elite he now follows.
