The Director of the National Reconnaissance Office (DNRO) of the United States is responsible to the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) with concurrence of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). The Director reports to the SECDEF who, in concert with the DNI, has ultimate management and operational responsibility for the NRO. The DNI establishes collection requirements and priorities for satellite-gathered intelligence. The DNRO provides top-level management direction to the NRO in response to SECDEF and DNI requirements.
