He seemed to be unconscious while Ichigo was carrying him, we can't know more yet. It is likely that he is simply exhausted from the effort of stabilizing the Dangai with his reiatsu, which he told Ichigo he could only do for about 2000 hours (time in dangai moves much more slowly).
