He won the Dave Pinkney Trophy as top goaltender in the Ontario Hockey Association's Junior "A" league in 1966-67. McDuffe won the 1970–71 CHL Most Valuable Player award with the Omaha Knights. He also won the 1971–72 WHL Leading Goaltender Award with the Denver Spurs. Between 1971 and 1978, he started in over 250 NHL regular season games with a goals-against average of 4.07. He was one of the first inductees in his hometown of Milton's Walk of Fame in 2007.
