Orthopsythos (ορθoψυθος in Greek, a combination of "true" and "falsehood") is the concept that one can simultaneously hold two contradicting beliefs in mind without conflict. This principle is essential to the proper functioning of the Panterran society; it prevents the formation of kaklogos and promotes the strict coherence of society by prohibiting even the thinking, much less the performance, of actions contrary to the state. The Aristos must use orthopsythos often in order to sincerely believe in the information and twisting of truth that they themselves are inventing. The Demos use orthopsythos in order to overcome the obvious contradictions in the state propaganda and information sources.
