The painting in real life is called The Blue Boy and was painted in 1770 by Thomas Gainsborough who was from Sudbury, Suffolk, England. It is an oil painting and is currently seen in Huntington Library, San Marino, California. It is considered one of Gainsborough's most well known works, although not much is thoroughly known about it. The subject is believed to be the son of a wealthy merchant.
