Mr. Thorn was a former protector of the court (he had an Orjak partner of his own, who is NOT Sivo), and presumably James Eglamore's sensei. He was a man with big shoulders, balding head, long beard and big eyebrows. He was also the games teacher at the time Eglamore and friends were pupils at the court. His first appearance is on Chapter 22, Page 9, and is identified as their games teacher on Chapter 22, Page 25.
