The 1980 Atlanta Journal 500 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Atlanta Motor Speedway on November 2, 1980. Cale Yarborough led 269 of the 328 laps in route to his sixth and final victory of the year, holding off Neil Bonnett by one second. Dale Earnhardt finished 3rd and held a 29-point championship lead on Yarborough with one race to go.
