Australia has proclaimed areas where control of the land has been given back to the Indiginous owners. These owners have been able to prove, before the High Court, their maintenance of law and religion in the land they are claiming. Sri Lanka does not have tribal areas in the same way that Australian Indigenous peoples do. Australian indigenous peoples have a spiritual relationship to the land which gives them their cultural and social identity.
