Doji Kaneshiro was a courtier of the Crane Clan and a member of the Second Gozoku. He eventually recruited Matsu Mieko, subverting her loyalty to the late Empress Toturi Tsudao into hatred for the new Emperor Toturi III. Kaneshiro asked Mieko only for minor favors, small things that would neither compromise her honor, nor her direct orders from her superiors.
