In physics, the gravitational coefficient is a number that expresses the strength of gravitational interactions between objects with mass. In normal space this number is constant. In the phenomenon known as "chaotic space," the gravitational coefficient was constantly changing, leading to a massive amount of graviton shear. Such a phenomenon was experienced by the crew of the USS Voyager in 2375, when their vessel became trapped in a region of chaotic space in the Delta Quadrant. (VOY: "The Fight")
