Tony Cramp served in the United States Army during World War I. He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. His award citation reads: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private Tony Cramp (ASN: 113196), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 150th Machine-Gun Battalion, 42d Division, A.E.F., during the action north of the Ourcq River, near Villers-sur-Fere, France, on 28 July 1918.
