Experience Points (XP) are utilised in Need for Speed: The Run to measure the player's overall progress in the game. Points can be earned by completing race events or by obtaining bonuses. Players can increase their Driver Level by accumulating a certain amount of XP. Reaching higher levels will unlock new cars and Driver Abilities. The maximum level a player can reach is level 30. Players that download the latest update for the PlayStation and Xbox 360 releases can reach level 40.
