Lara first meets him in Bolivia, where his men try to kill her, but she kills them and both she and Rutland leave. Rutland is in possession of a piece of Excalibur, and his men go after Lara again at Peru. Later, Lara chases after him at Ghana to obtain his piece of Excalibur. He eventually fights her using the power of the Excalibur piece, but she defeats him and takes the piece, telling him not to cross paths with her again.
