The 43rd Foot was a regiment of the British Army, part of the Earl of Edrington's half-battalion assisting royalist forces led by the Marquis de Pouzauges in an invasion of France in an effort to retake France from Napoleon. The 43rd provided cover fire while royalist forces retreated. The historical 43rd was raised in 1741, saw action in North America during the French and Indian War, the American War of Independence, the Peninsular War in Spain, and the Battle of New Orleans. It never actually took part in an invasion of France from England.
