The Sea Beach Railway (originally the New York and Sea Beach) was a steam railroad in the borough of Brooklyn, ultimately absorbed into the New York City subway system. The New York and Sea Beach line opened on July 18th, 1877 between the 64th Street pier and a location called Bath Junction (approximately the current intersection of 62nd Street & New Utrecht Avenue). In 1879 the line was extended to Coney Island, terminating at the Sea Beach Depot (loated at the Sea Beach Palace Hotel). Originally, the stops were given names such as Bath Junction, Woodlawn, Hubbard Creek, but although the present subway stations are named for streets, they are at the same locations.
