The 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and Earthquake an undersea megathrust earthquake that took place on the epicenter near the island of Sumatra on December 26, 2004, on 00:58:53 UTC. The tsunami was caused by subduction and lead to many other erathquakes, one of them at the Andaman Islands, where another tsunami was sparked. The coats of several countries bordering the Indian Ocean took the damage, especially Oceania, Siam, Sri Lanka, Mysore, Gangestan, and Hindustan. The death toll was as high as 230,000 people. Waves were up 98 feet or 30 meters high.
