The First Super Robot Taisen game included Gundam UC Series, Mazinger and Getter Robo. As time went by, more new series were included (such as Gundam Seed or Gaogaigar), and older ones were omited (for example, Getter Robo does not appear in Super Robot Taisen Judgement or Super Robot Taisen K). In addition, Banpresto created many original characters and mechas, which first debuted on Super Robot Taisen 2; these characters are often the main protagonists of the games.
