Sonic the Hedgehog was tricked into visiting the Grim Zone by a disguised Metamorphia, believing that her home was in trouble. The hero was swiftly defeated by her gaseous form and was placed in a Retro Block. Upon waking up, Sonic quickly attempted to speed his way through the walls but was unexpectedly repelled. From outside the raised prison, Metamorphia revealed that any force used is reflected back at the inmate, blocking any escape attempts. Sonic decided to become accustomed to his new home, actually wanting to stay. The Retro Block refused this and did the opposite, destroying itself to free Sonic.
