Howard Cates was a Silesian pirate. In 1918 PD, he was part of the crew of the heavy cruiser Predator, and served as a "Sergeant" in the ship's marine division. He was killed fighting Abigail Hearns' troops on the surface of the planet Refuge during the Battle of Tiberian. (HHA4.6: TSotS)
