The Eldritch book of spells was thought to have been destroyed in the great fire of Berendale, more than a thousand years before the time of the Great Rebellion. The spells in the book could only be worked while the book is held by a magic maker. Somehow, Shadow Weaver managed to get her hands on the long lost book. She cast the spell of the Mists of Endless Sleep over the Whispering Woods. The mists surrounded the entire village, keeping anyone from entering or leaving, and causing anyone who came in contact with the mist itself to fall fast asleep.
