John Whittaker Ellis (25 January 1829 – 20 September 1912), known as Sir John Whittaker Ellis, 1st Baronet from 1882 was a Conservative Party politician and Lord Mayor of London. A resident of Petersham and son of the proprietor of the Star and Garter Hotel, Richmond, Ellis became a member of the Corporation of London as an alderman for Broad Street Ward in 1872. He was Sheriff of London and Middlesex in 1874-75 and Lord Mayor in 1881-82. In 1890 Richmond was incorporated as a Municipal Borough and Ellis served as first Mayor of Richmond in 1890-91.
