The Clan Matsuoka are of the six noble Gao-Showa Clans. Tracing both their origin and their nobility to the arrival of people in Gao-Soto the Matsuoka are one of the oldest and most respected clans. They are also unusual amongst the noble clans for alowing the eldest child of a former Koshack, regardless of gender, take uo leadership of the clans. This is fairly common in lower ranking clans but highly unusual for the noble clans, who are more conservative. Indeed the Matsuoka are considered on of the most Liberal clans as well as the most open.
