A dracopyre is a cross between werepyres (half-Vampire, half-Werewolf) and dragons. There are three main dracopyres thoughout the storyline. The original is Nightbane, son of Wolfwing. Once a werepyre named Balius and Wolfwing's favorite son, he drank the blood of a thousand dragons and became a dracopyre. He is the father of Cenara and Edward (Vampire Slayer E.) and the husband of Lady Evina, as well as the half-father of Donovan. After his death, Donovan made chaos in the Darkovian ranks by recruiting the WereKing's son Thrasher and several of Wolfwing and Safiria's "loyal" lieutenants to infiltrate the ranks of the different peoples.
