The distribution of the vehicles was a part of the dealer network from the Yanase K.K. Due to increasingly competitive behaviour by the Japanese company Toyota Motor Corporation, the German company stopped its cooperation in January 1998. With the termination of the local assembly, the prices for the now imported models were increasing up to 25 per cent. After only three years later, in 2000, Audi AG founded its own local Japanese dealer network, as Audi Japan K.K.
