Clear is a brothel town in Nye County, Nevada. Clear is located approximately 80 miles north of Las Vegas and 150 miles from the California town of Zzyzx. Robert Backus lived in the town from 2000 to March of 2004, working as a driver for mayor Billings Rett and living in a trailer near Titanic Rock. In April of 2004, private investigator Harry Bosch and FBI agent Rachel Walling traveled to Clear in pursuit of Backus.
