A fusion scoop, also known as an energy scoop for fusion, was a means of accessing power by harvesting plasma from a star's surface. By the 42nd century fusions scoops were illegal. The cargo vessel SS Pentallian used a fusion scoop for "cheap fuel". Most of its crew were killed after they used their scoops to take fuel from Torajii, a sentient star in the Torajii system.
